Summary of Siege and Storm

Alina and Mal travel across the True Sea, away from Ravka, far from the Darkling’s clutches, trying to start a new life. But soon they are hunted down by the Darkling, his Grisha, and shadow soldiers and taken to the Bone Road to find another of Morozova’s amplifiers.

“I’ve seen what you truly are,” said the Darkling, “and I’ve never turned away. I never will.”

Alina gets the power of another amplifier and manages to escape the Darkling to return to Ravka and decides to lead the Second Army. But as her power grows, Alina slips deeper into the Darkling’s game of forbidden magic, and farther away from Mal. Somehow, she will have to choose between her country, her power, and the love she always thought would guide her—or risk losing everything to the oncoming storm!

Personal Reviews on Siege and Storm

“The less you say, the more weight your words will carry.”

I have so mixed feelings about this book that I don’t know where to start. I definitely have fallen in love with Leigh Bardugo’s writing and this universe. Although I loved Shadow and Bone better than Siege and Storm, I honestly don’t wanna say anything bad about this book because it introduces our very charming Prince Nikolai- I mean, c’mon, how can I? The story practically revolves around him with other details.

“Watch yourself, Nikolai,” Mal said softly. “Princes bleed just like other men.”

Nikolai plucked an invisible piece of dust from his sleeve. “Yes,” he said. “They just do it in better clothes.”

Shadow and Bone was more fast-paced compared to this. A lot of crazy things do happen in this book too but most of it is just build-up for some actual action that happens in like the last 10% of the story.

When I posted the review for Shadow and Bone, everyone hyped me up a lot for the second part and I think my expectations were a tad high. I love the advancements in the story though. Mal and Alina kind of develop a toxic relationship, I fall in love with Nikolai, Darkling emerges stronger and in the end, something happens * no spoilers * that definitely wants you to pick up the next book as soon as you finish this one.

“Anything worth doing always starts as a bad idea.”
