The Wandering Star- The Shifter's Trance #1 - SP Mittson

Summary

In “The Wandering Star (The Shifter’s Trance Series #1)” by S.P. Mittson, we dive into a world where glitches aren’t just technical errors but integral parts of the plot. Eloise Hector, the princess of Murkwood (which she hates being called btw), grapples with powers she can’t control after a tragic accident. Kayden Parsons, who’s as charming as he is obnoxious, offers help despite being labeled Eloise’s nemesis. Together, they embark on a journey through Shadowland, a realm filled with mist and lurking shadows, to rescue Eloise’s friends from the clutches of darkness. (Psst… Yes, there’s sort of a love triangle, read to find out!)

From the very beginning, the mysterious plot sets the stage for an adventure that’s as captivating as it is unpredictable. You’ll find yourself immersed in a world where every twist and turn keeps you on your toes, wondering what surprise awaits on the next page.

Personal Reviews

Let’s address the elephant in the room—the glitch motif might be a tad overused. It’s like when your favorite song plays on repeat until you can’t stand it anymore. By the time you hit the last page, you might be thinking, “Okay, we get it, there’s a glitch.” It’s a bit like having too much of a good thing, you know?

Yet, despite the occasional stumble in pacing and character development, there’s an undeniable allure to the narrative.

The author, herself, said that she was a lot inspired by the stories that her grandparents told her and we see instances where there might be some careful and thoughtful references to Hindu mythology!

While I eagerly flipped through the pages, there was a lingering hunger for deeper exploration into the story and its characters. I loved Kayden’s POV at the end of the book.

But, it’s not the end because we are awaiting two more volumes!

“The Wandering Star” is a thrilling debut that takes you on a mystical adventure filled with twists, turns, and glitches. Its captivating narrative and dynamic characters keep you hooked until the very end. So, grab your book and join Eloise and Kayden on their journey through Shadowland—you won’t regret it.
